There are two different ways to get an instrument. Most families choose to rent an instrument from a recommended music shop (see below) and some families qualify for DISD's School Owned Instrument Program. Below are details about both options.
DISD Instrument Fee Reduction Program:
Students who are on the free/reduced lunch program may qualify for our DISD instrument fee reduction program. The student is responsible for bringing Mrs. Dominguez a copy of their district free/reduced lunch approval letter and the signed instrument lease agreement form as soon as possible to receive an instrument. This program provides the student a school-owned instrument, case, bow and rosin at a reduced rental price to use for the duration of the school year. Students must re-apply for this program each school year. Students are responsible for the proper care of their instrument at all times and may be required to return their instrument if they are not demonstrating proper care and handling. Students may be asked to cover repair costs due to extreme carelessness or intentional defacement of the instrument. Students in this program will still owe the required orchestra fee for their group and be responsible for getting all other required supplies.
