Welcome to Language and Literature

My name is Janequeal Simmons, and I am honored to serve as a Language & Literature teacher at Calhoun Middle School. This year marks my seventh year in this role, and I remain deeply committed to cultivating a classroom environment where students feel inspired, supported, and challenged.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and my Master's in Reading Education from Texas Woman’s University. My teaching philosophy centers on the belief that students learn most effectively through active participation, thoughtful inquiry, and consistent effort. I recognize and value the unique strengths, perspectives, and leadership qualities each student brings to our learning community, and I strive to foster a lifelong appreciation for learning in every child.

Tutorial sessions are available Monday through Thursday, before or after school, by scheduled arrangement. I welcome open communication and encourage students and families to reach out whenever support is needed.

I look forward to partnering with students and families for a productive and inspiring school year.
