Hello! My name is Erica Koester. (Formerly, Ms. Hermann)
This is my seventh year teaching in Denton ISD. I moved to Texas eight years ago from Somers, New York, a small, country town north of New York City. That was a BIG move and I am SO happy here!
I went to SUNY Cortland, NY for my bachelor's degree in Sociology/Criminology. After working in business for several years, I decided to follow my passion, to education children, and went to Pace University for my masters in education.
I taught in New York City for 13 years, mostly in kindergarten and a couple years in first grade. Extending my love of education, I have also earned a second masters degree in School Building Leadership and have continuing education experience from universities, such as, Harvard, NYU, UConn, and Teachers College Columbia University.
My son's name is Theodore, Teddy for short. He is 18 years old and a college freshman at Collin Community College. We are so proud of his achievements.
This year will be an exciting year in kindergarten! We are on an adventure to deepen our thinking about the world around us.
