When your child is absent from school, please be sure to fill out the form at https://forms.dentonisd.org/Forms/absence-note . In addition, an email notifying me is always appreciated, but not required.
Yes! Please send your student with a snack and a water bottle to school each day. Make sure the water bottle your student brings with them to school is labeled with their first and last name. If you have questions about snacks, please email me.
Please call the front office by 1:30 PM regarding any dismissal transportation changes. They will ensure that the message gets to your child.
Our arrival and dismissal procedures were thought out with input from district officials, campus staff, parents, and law enforcement. The many perspectives helped us create our plans for arrival and dismissal, keeping students' safety our first priority and campus efficiency second. Below you will find the graphics for our 22-23 arrival and dismissal procedures. Our school is divided into three halls (Courage, Compassion, and Commitment). Your pick up zone is dependent on the hallway of your child's homeroom teacher, which you will find out August 9th by noon.
If you have a student in Hall of Commitment, with a younger sibling in Hall of Courage or Compassion, the older sibling will meet their younger sibling in the orange zone. Families will not pick up multiple children in different zones.
We have two different "types" of walkers at SRE:
Walker Go- These are students who parents walk from home to pick up their student(s) from school. All walker go students are picked up in the green zone. Parking in lots or around the school to walk up to pick up your child is prohibited.
Walker Home- These are students who are responsible for walking from home to school or school to home. These students are dismissed from an exterior door and are responsible for matching up with their siblings or walking buddies.
We will have two marked crossing walks with campus based staff patrolling the cross walks each afternoon.
Bike Riders:
There are three bike racks at SRE. Your student can pick which bike rack to park their bike and enter the building at the closet entry point. Bike racks are indicated on the arrival map with a red circle. Scooters and skate boards are not allowed inside the building.
Pick Up Tags:
If your child is a car rider, walker go, or golf cart pick up, you will need to get a 'pick up tag' at Meet the Teacher Night in the gym. Students will only be dismissed with a pick up tag to ensure a safe pick up.
One Pick Up Tag per family. Every child in the family will have the same pick up tag number.
We will give every family two tags. You must have your tag with you to pick up your child from car line, walker go, or golf cart pick up.
Your Pick Up Tag number will roll up with your family year after year, until your number is retired when your last child leaves SRE. This will help with students remembering their number year after year.
Bus Riders & Day Care Busses:
Students who ride Denton ISD busses or daycare busses will load in the blue zone.
ESD:
These students are enrolled in ESD through Denton ISD.
Students in ESD will be escorted to the gym by a staff member.
We recommend practicing arrival and dismissal with your child prior to the first day of school. This will help with familiarity and ensure everyone in the family knows the plan for each day. The more comfortable your child is with their transportation plan, the more efficient it will run the first few days of school. We ask for your grace & patience the first few weeks of school as we work out any kinks in arrival and dismissal. We will make any adjustments that are needed, by working together and keeping our students safe first and foremost, and to expedite the process as much as possible.
