Ms. D's Art Room
Pecan Creek Elementary artists learn to think like artists focusing on the Studio Habits of Mind. Kinder, First and Second grade artists are inspired by stories as we make connections between art and literature. As they focus on stories, our young artists learn the power of images to tell their own stories and learn to make artistic choices as they envision their own stories. Continuing into Third, Fourth and Fifth grade artists learn to make even more independent choices and experiment with media. Following the Studio Habits of Mind and a TAB (teaching for artistic behavior) mindset, students are given themes and prompts and learn to interpret these ideas for themselves as they chose the materials that best express their vision and purpose.
