Essential 8

As part of the counseling program here at Cross Oaks and across Denton ISD, we strive to teach all students to learn and grow in our Essential 8 characteristics.

Social Awareness: A person's capacity to interact with others in a way that shows respect, tolerance, and cooperation.

I will be visiting each class every other week to deliver whole group guidance lessons. These lessons help teach the Essential 8 skills above. Our first lesson for the month will be over conflict resolution and how we can use I messages to help others understand how we feel. In grades 3-5, we learned how to use the Peace Path to solve conflicts and each student had the chance to practice the path with another student. Our second lesson of the month is over bullying and friendship. Below are some of the books we are reading to each empathy and kindness.
