Hello! My name is Mrs. Gilliland. I am a teacher, learner, student. The 2019-2020 school year is my 7th year at Denton High School. I graduated from the University of North Texas in 2013. I am currently an M.Ed Reading student at Texas Woman's University through the ELLevate! Grant, a federal grant aimed at supporting English Language Learners and their teachers in Denton. Reading is a passion of mine; I love all genres, but have a special spot in my heart for YA fantasy. Series like Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas or Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling are among some of my favorites. Throughout the school year, I hope to share with you a love for reading through a mixture of independent choice, book clubs, and whole class novels. A writer's notebook will show growth in student's writing resulting in an end-of-year portfolio.
