About Me

Hello! My name is Mrs. Boerner and I am looking forward to spending the year getting to know all of my wonderful  Kinder, 1st and 2nd graders! Let me start off by telling you a little bit about me.

I grew up in Tyler-- a moderately sized East Texas town. I moved to Denton in 2002 when I started school at the University of North Texas (Go Mean Green!!). I graduated in 2006. I began working at L.A. Nelson Elementary the year the school opened (2008) and taught 1st grade for 9 years. I soon discovered that not only do I love to teach, but I also love to learn. So in 2013, I earned my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on literacy from The University of Texas at Arlington. This is my 18th year at Nelson and I'm excited to get to work with Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade! :) 

I am the youngest child in my family- I have one sister. My sister and brother-in-law have 2 beautiful daughters, my nieces Lauryn and Allie. They live in Colorado! I also have several brothers and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews, from my husband's side of the family.

Mr. Boerner and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary in July! 

We have 3 dogs-Baylee, Scout and Pearl. Baylee is a 9 year old Basset Hound/Lab mix who loves to play and chase.  Scout is a French Bulldog/Boston Terrier mix who is 2 years old. Pearl is also a French Bulldog/Boston Terrier mix and she is only 12 weeks old- we just got her this Christmas. We also have a cat named  Nugget. He  loves to explore and hunt for mice.  We live on a little farm outside of Collinsville.  In my spare time, I'm also learning how to be a farmer since we have 25 cows and 20 chickens!

• Hobbies: Reading (especially children's books:) ) and writing!
