My name is Sarah Welch. I grew up in Gainesville, Texas. Fun fact, Gainesville is the only Medal of Honor Host City in the United States! I have been married for seven years to my high school sweetheart, Cody, who is a firefighter and paramedic for the Carrollton Fire Department. We have two sweet boys, Josiah (4) and Bennett (2), and I am expecting our third little man this coming March. My parents spent their careers devoted to students in the field of education, and their impact inspired me to follow in their footsteps. I have two younger sisters; Hannah currently works at Texas A&M University, and Mary is pursuing her doctorate in Physical Therapy at Texas State. In my free time I enjoy crafting and spending time with family.
I attended Texas Woman's University and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. I hold an EC-6 Generalist certificate, EC-12 Special Education certificate, and English as a Second Language certificate. After student teaching in Denton ISD, I went on to teach 3rd grade in Forney ISD. I ran back to Denton ISD as soon as I could! I have spent the past six years teaching 5th math and science. Along with my role as a classroom teacher I also serve as the district's 5th grade science curriculum writer.
I feel so fortunate to serve your child this year! My students inspire me each day to continue working towards becoming the best version of myself. My goal in every aspect of life is to always continue growing, and I bring that mindset to my classroom. As we work to strengthen and extend our math, science, and social studies knowledge this year, we will also place a large emphasis on continuing to develop our character while encouraging each other to take risks and problem solve! It is going to be a fantastic year!
