I am the ESL teacher at Harpool. That means that I help students understand, speak, read, and write at a high academic level of English, especially if they come from another country, or speak a language other than English at home. If you happen to cross paths with me here at Harpool, it's very likely that you'll see me with a big smile on my face. That is because I love what I do!
I grew up in Duncanville, TX, and graduated from high school there. I attended the University of North Texas and received a B.A. in English Literature and a M.S. in Secondary Education.
I began my teaching career in 1995. My first teaching experience was teaching English at Escuela Bilingue Honduras in Honduras, Central America. I taught English and Reading to grades 6-12. From Honduras, I returned to Texas and began teaching English and Sheltered English to 10th, 11th, and 12th graders at Hillcrest High School in Dallas ISD. I then moved to California, teaching 7th and 8th grade Reading and English at Arroyo Seco Museum Magnet School in Los Angeles USD. I returned to Texas and taught ESL at Skyline High School for one year before helping open Harpool Middle School in 2008! I've been loving teaching ESL to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders ever since!
