EXPO Curriculum


FIRST NINE WEEKS:

1st grade -  Students will understand their gifts and their areas of growth.  

2nd grade- Students will understand the areas of multiple intelligences and set personal goals to improve their learning.

3rd grade- Students will analyze and reflect on their own giftedness and understand how multiple intelligences relates to them.  They will also learn some challenges that may come with being gifted.  

4th grade- Students will analyze and reflect on their own giftedness and how they are perceived by others.  They work on communicating in positive ways to teachers, peers, and themselves. 

5th grade- Students will learn how to advocate for themselves and their needs in a positive way.



SECOND NINE WEEKS:

1st grade -  Students will independently use their learning to become aware of their own thinking.  They will understand that different types of thinking can be used for different purposes.  

2nd grade- Students will independently use their learning to become aware of their own thinking.  They will understand that different types of thinking can be used for different purposes and find benefits to working with people who think differently than themselves. 

3rd - 5th grade- Students will understand the process of research. They will research a new topic using depth and complexity 



THIRD NINE WEEKS:

1st and 2nd grade -  Students will understand the steps of the research process.  They will independently connect two or more concepts and communicate their learning. 

3rd - 5th grade- Students will understand the process of research. They will research a new topic using depth and complexity.                (continued from the second nine weeks) 




FOURTH NINE WEEKS:

1st and 2nd grade -  Students will explore and use creative problem solving to take intellectual risks and make discoveries. 

3rd - 5th grade- Students will use systematic problem solving techniques to solve unfamiliar problems.  They will evaluate and critique ideas based on evidence and logic.
