Mustang Reminders:
Please make sure your student brings a jacket to school each day as our classroom get very cold. During Winter, we will be going out in any temperature above 40 degrees.
A name should be written inside all jackets on the tag incase it goes missing. Students are welcome to have a jacket that stays in the classroom instead of bringing one back and fourth.
All students should bring a snack and refillable water bottle to school each day.
Please make sure you have added yourself to our class Remind page to get important information and fun pictures!
This is how I will be communicating weekly newsletters, pictures, special event info, etc. Please get signed up!! :)
Hello 3rd Grade Families!
I am Lindsay Nelson, Parker’s mom, and I am Mrs. Murphree’s Room Rep for this year! I am here to help Mrs. Murphree with planning & organizing class parties and any other help she needs throughout the year. In addition to that, I will be sharing information with you about classroom & grade level events, opportunities to be involved, requests for volunteer help, etc. If you would like to opt OUT of this communication, please let Mrs. Murphree know and she will remove your contact information from our list. A few opportunities to be involved in the next few months include Pumpkin Day, Thanksgiving Feast in November, and Holiday Brunch in December. More info and volunteer requests will go out for each as we get closer to them. Other ways to support the class are through Mrs. Murphree’s Class wishlist & the 3rd Grade Science Needs wishlist! We welcome and appreciate your help in any way you can, whether volunteering your time or sending supplies to the classroom! Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, ideas or suggestions! I’m excited for the school year ahead and look forward to working with y’all to make it a great year for Mrs. Murphree & the kiddos!

HOMEWORK EXPECTATIONS
Students will bring home their "Take Home Binder" each day. Inside will be a folder with any papers that need to come home, their homework journal and some scratch paper for work shown on homework, and their book of choice, if they need one to bring home for homework.
These binders need to travel to and from school each day .
Our homework is one page front and back for the WEEK. They will bring it home on Mondays and return it completed on the following Monday. That's so they have the weekend incase your weeks are busy. It happens to the best of us!
If they have completed their work by Monday, they will be in the homework club! Here's how to stay in the homework club...
Students must read for a minimum of 20 minutes each night. (Even if they are able to answer all questions in one night, they should still make a healthy habit of reading each night.)
Once they have read a "good fit book" (Have them tell you what that means), Then they will answer the one question for that night or more if they would like to do more than one. Some questions are not going to be able to be answered until later in the week or as they get farther into their books. Make sure they are paying attention to the top of the homework page to know whether they should be reading fiction or non-fiction.
Students will have a math review page for the week. They can complete the whole thing in one night or do 1-2 questions each night. They MUST show all of their work on the scratch paper or the problem if there is room.
Please check in with them before homework is due to make sure they are ready to turn in on Monday, following the expectations inside the front cover.
Please help us pay for field trips by collecting aluminum drinking cans! We recycle these to help collect money to pay for busses and field trip costs for students.
We also need people to help take the cans to the recycle facility. If you have a truck and are interested in volunteering, please send me an email!
Please only send cans on the days listed. We cannot store the cans ahead of time or early. They can be delivered after school the night before but no earlier. They need to be brought by 4 pm the day listed. Any other cans need to be saved for the next can day at home.
