Hello! My name is Amy Marks. I was born in Mesa, AZ, but moved to the DFW area when I was 2-years-old. I have one younger sister, Carmen (Carmencita). She is 12 years younger than I am. She is an Electrical Engineer (We are so proud!). When I was in high school, I met my husband Charlie. We were married in June, 2003. We have a son, Charles, he attends Texas A&M University. He is starting his Senior year for a BS in Computer Engineering with a minor in Mathematics. He is applying this year to graduate school for an MS in Electrical Engineering. On my family's ranch, we have lots of cows, geese and chickens. We also have three wonderful dogs, Callie, Cassie, and Cooper, as well as classroom Betta fish named Summer.
I attended the University of North Texas, where I graduated cum laude with dual certification in Special Education and General Education EC-4th. I spent my first 6 years teaching special education in Plano, TX and Broken Arrow, OK. Then, I spent 5 years teaching full day Pre-K in Broken Arrow. I have spent the last 8 years teaching Early Childhood here, in Denton ISD. This community is amazing and I am so blessed to belong. This will be my nineteenth-year teaching. I have undoubtedly learned quite a few things along the way. 😊 I love teaching Pre-K because it is such an honor to watch your children learn and grow.
Please note, that as a teacher and a parent, I know the importance of communication so please contact me with whatever needs or questions you may have (no matter how big or small they may seem). Research shows that children do better in school when parents talk often with teachers and become involved in the school. I am so excited to be your child’s teacher this year.
