Welcome! I am proud to be teaching at Savannah for my nineteenth year in a row. I am a graduate of the University of North Texas with a B.S. in child development. I received my teaching certification from Region XI. I am certified to teach ESL and Gifted and Talented students. Before moving to Denton ISD in 2006, I taught first grade for three years in Lake Dallas. I spent the previous ten years in the early childhood field working in child care centers. I have been married to my husband, Phillip, for twenty-four years. Together we have a Silky Terrier named Dug. We enjoy traveling, going to the lake, and spending time with our families.
I would like every student and parent to feel that I am here for you because we will all be working as a team. I will be available to you throughout the year to discuss any issues or concerns that may arise regarding your child’s education.
My expectations in the classroom will be high and I desire a classroom that will provide a positive learning environment for each student. With parent support, this will be a productive and positive school year. I strongly encourage you to be involved by reading important information that will be sent home via email, volunteering to assist with classroom projects, supplying “extra” materials we might need, helping with clubs, or participate in other daily activities.
You may reach me throughout the day by email at mcurran@dentonisd.org or by phone 972-347-7448. My conference time varies so please see my schedule on my webpage. Since we will all work together, we will make this year a successful learning experience!
