About Mr. Luján

Jesús Luján, assistant principal of Borman Elementary, an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School in the heart of Denton, has been elevated to lead the campus for the 2021-2022 school year. Mr. Luján replaces Emily McLarty who was recently named Director of Human Resources for Staff Engagement.

“I am humbled and honored to be named principal at Borman Elementary,” said Mr. Luján. “Borman Elementary has been my home for the past six years, and I look forward to working alongside Borman’s amazing teachers and staff in helping to be of service to our community. ¡Juntos, Sí Se Puede! Together, we can!”

Mr. Luján has dedicated his educational career to Denton ISD, having served as a classroom teacher and administrator at Title I campuses during his tenure with the district.

Mr. Luján first joined the district in 2014 as a second-grade teacher at W.S. Ryan Elementary. In 2015, he joined the Borman family, teaching third grade, and was recognized as the 2018 Borman Teacher of the Year.

In 2019, he transitioned from the classroom to becoming the school’s assistant principal. As a bilingual administrator and supporter of bilingual emergent students and their families, Mr. Luján has served as the Bilingual/ESL Pre-K & Kindergarten Summer School principal for the past two years.

“We are delighted to have Mr. Luján leading the Borman Elementary campus,” said Dr. Lacey Rainey, area superintendent of academic programs. “We know that he will bring expertise, knowledge, skills and professionalism to the role while embracing the values and culture past leaders have worked so hard to create and sustain. As an IB world campus known for its commitment to supporting both the students and the community, Borman is a great fit for Mr. Luján. He is a leader who has devoted his career to ensuring that every student is provided equitable learning opportunities and access to an exemplary education.”
