Philosophy of Education
Learning mathematics is very similar to learning a musical instrument, sport, video game, and many other skills.
1) Taking In The Concept: Watching and listening to others is important in developing strategies, techniques and skills. (Tapes, video/games on TV, magazines/friends, lessons)
2) Memory Building: Speed and adaptation, however, come through repetitive drills (scales, practice, hours in front of the TV, or classwork/homework).
3) Long Term Absorption: True understanding only comes later when you try to take what you’ve acquired and give it to another.

Family:
My wife, Jayme, teaches Honors and AP Biology at Ryan while coaching Cross Country and Golf. My son and daughter are both in the Ryan zone. We have 3 mammals and I actually don't know how many poultry in a chaotic but loving home in Denton. I spend what little free time I have reading, playing video games, and moderating a social media group of over 8,400 AP Calculus teachers.
