My Teaching Philosophy:
"Education is too important to be solely left to educators" (Francis Keppel), and I appreciate every parent, tutor, administrator, peer, and mentor for assisting me every day with this important job of educating young people.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in kinesiology and a minor in English from the University of Texas, Arlington. I was honored to be the first McNair Scholar from the College of Sports Sciences at UTA and was awarded an NCAA Academic Athlete Scholarship. I was also fortunate enough to compete in the heptathlon for my university's track and field team. GO, MAVS!

My husband Harold and I are blessed with two wonderful children: Hayden and Xavier. Hayden is a student at Guyer High School, and Xavier is at Harpool Middle School. My husband also works in education as an administrator. Every day I feel truly fortunate to have such a fabulous family.

I grew up in the rich and diverse culture of El Paso, Texas - about as far west as Texas gets ;-) My father, a retired Lieutenant Colonel from the Army, was the Director of Army Instruction for El Paso ISD for 39 years. My mother, a Registered Nurse, spent 25 years as the campus medical professional at Ranchland Middle School. Now, my older sister Bethany is an educational diagnostician for Arlington schools, and I am a teacher ... guess education runs in my blood!
The 2020-2021 school year marks the start of my 25th year in the classroom. I spent the first 9 years of my career teaching and coaching in Arlington Independent School District, but I have since proudly called Denton ISD my home! I am honored to be part of this wonderful collaboration of parents, students, administrators, and teachers!
