We will write our own notes in class. You will need:
Spiral (3 subject spiral) or 1 subject spirals– It will be used for warm-ups, learning targets, extra assignments, extra notes, possible quizzes
A 3-ring binder can be used to organize notes, homework assignments, and quizzes, but you would still need a section for the warm-ups, learning targets, and any extra. The 3-ring binder is not necessary if you can manage bringing your 3-subject spiral.
Pencils, eraser, red pens (ALL work turned in to me MUST be done in pencil!!).
Box of tissue
Supplies assigned per classroom:
1st- 2 boxes of tissue, pencils (mechanical or regular)

TARDIES
If you are late to class, you will enter quietly and take your seat. If you have a note, hand it to me first. Unexcused tardy will be recorded every time. I will excuse you if you have a note from the office or another teacher. Please make sure that I am aware that you are late. If not, this may cause you being absent instead of tardy.
ABSENT POLICY
If a student is sick then it is up to the student to find out what was missed and make up the material. Assignments will be available in Canvas. In these situations, the student has 1 day plus the number of days missed to turn in the assignment and complete the missing assessment.
Students are responsible for getting notes from the class or classes they missed from another student, the teacher, or online resource (Canvas) and schedule a time with the teacher to take any missed quizzes or test. All classroom assignments, activities, quizzes, and tests are posted on my website (Canvas).
When a student is absent the class before a test (a review day), the student should look online for the review or get it from a student or myself to be able to take the test when they return. If a student misses the day of the test, but was in class for the review he/she will be expected to take the test upon returning. Make-ups and retakes are done during tutorials only. Few exceptions are made for using class time for retakes and makeups.
Field trips and other school related absences are not considered an absence and thus students do not get extra time to finish the assignment.
Students will only be allowed to leave the classroom for emergencies.
There will be no restroom passes allowed during lesson instruction.
Students may need to sign out when they leave the room and sign in when they return
Anyone abusing the restroom pass will have the privilege revoked.
CELL PHONE POLICY
New state law HB 1481 prohibits student use of personal communication devices (cell phones, laptops, tablets, smart watches/glasses, paging devices, and alternative devices) during the instructional day. The law does provide exceptions for students with documented medical needs or special education/504 accommodations.
Denton ISD policy will allow personal communication devices at campus. Per the Student Code of Conduct, students will be required to turn off or silence those devices and store them in their backpack or locker during the instructional day. They should not ever be visible. Discipline will be handled by administrators and not the teacher.

HOMEWORK/QUIZ
Homework is for YOUR practice of the new material and needs to be completed to re-test.
You will be quizzed daily over most assignments so I can assess your understanding of the material. Quizzes are usually timed. You may use your notes and assignment to help you.
IN ORDER TO RETAKE A Quiz/Test, ALL HOMEWORK MUST BE COMPLETED AND YOUR TEST SCORE SHOULD HAVE BEEN LESS THAN A 90. I will not allow any retakes whatsoever without completed homework.
Corrections and all homework must be completed and turned in to me at the time of the retake or you will not be allowed to retake. Corrections need to be completed during my tutorials or during class time.
The highest grade given for a retake will be up to a 90 and it will replace the lower grade in the grade book.
TESTS
It is a Denton ISD policy that students will have the option to retake tests one time, when the grade is lower than 90, if certain guidelines are met. It is required that the student complete all reassessment work assigned by me, correct the test in tutorials and/or watch the video tutorial on my website, and complete the test review before retaking the test. In addition, students must have completed ALL of the homework assignments on time for the assessed unit in order to be eligible to reassess. Reassessments are a privilege for those who show consistent effort. They are not guaranteed, and definitely not an excuse to blow off the work the first time. Retakes will be allowed within four days of the test grade being posted in HAC. Make sure that you check HAC every day. Times for the retakes will be determined by me. Retakes must be completed in one sitting. Do not come start the test unless you have time to finish it. The higher test grade (up to a 90) will replace the lower in the grade book. The test grade can also replace lower minor grades that are over the same content.
***YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO MAKE UP, RETAKE, OR CORRECT ANYTHING THAT IS OVER FOUR DAYS OLD UNLESS YOU HAD MULTIPLE ABSENCES! DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE END OF THE QUARTER AND TRY TO FIX EVERYTHING!
TUTORIALS
Tutorials are offered during Tuesday and Wednesday mornings 8:15-8:45. Please come whenever needed. If I have a meeting or will be out for the day, I will do my best to announcement it. Test reassessments will be at 8:15 AM and need to be scheduled with me ahead of time.
EXPECTATIONS
I, as your teacher expect every student to succeed. It is my job to make sure I meet the needs of every student. In order to do so, I count on open communication between myself, your parents, and you the student to know when you are struggling.
YOU WILL SUCCEED IN THIS MATH CLASS!
