Missing Work/Absent Work/Formatives
'MSG' in HAC means that a student has not completed the work. It is averaging in as a zero into the student's overall grade until the work is turned in.
'0' in HAC means the student scored a zero on the assessment.
Absent Work - Students need to check the 'Absent Work' bins when they have missed class for any reason. Here they will find information on lessons, materials, and assessments that they need to get caught up on. It is the student's responsibility to check for absent work and bring it to me to be initialed.
Formative Assignments - If an assignment is listed as “formative” in the category section, this is unweighted. Unweighted assignments do not affect student averages and are used as a means of communication on student progress and responsibility of turning in work.
Grading Policy
Major grades: 60% (tests, projects, common assessments)
Minor grades: 40% (unit quizzes, ticket-out-the-door, daily assignments)
All reteaching for reassessments must take place in Mrs. Hotchkiss's class. Students must come in during tutoring times to complete this process.
Denton ISD states that a score of 90% exhibits mastery of a skill. Students can only retest if they scored less than a 90% on the assessment.
Students may only score up to a 90% on the reassessment.
Students may reassess once per assessment.
In order to reassess, student must have all work leading up to the assessment turned in.
Reassessments for minors are at the discretion of the teacher. Typically, a minor will be tested on a major assessment at a later date. This grade can be replaced for the minor grade if it is a higher average since the student has shown new learning of the material.
Reassessments are not required on lengthy projects or essays where feedback was given.
