The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) was founded in 1929 in the hopes of creating an organization that would recognize and encourage academic achievement while also developing other characteristics essential to citizens in a democracy. The ideals of scholarship, leadership, character, service, and citizenship remain as relevant today as they were in 1929.
NJHS is led by middle school students who have dedicated themselves to outstanding scholarship, service, leadership and character. They have pledged to inspire everyone to be their best.
to create enthusiasm for scholarship
to stimulate a desire to render service
to promote leadership
to encourage responsible citizenship
to develop character in the students of secondary schools
The Harpool NJHS is involved as a group in service to the school, and the community around us, as well as the hundreds of hours served on an individual basis each semester by our members. Harpool NJHS members are also involved in nearly every club, department, and program across our campus, where they serve as peer leaders and mentors to the rest of the student body.
