Google Classroom and Technology
All students will be given access to a Google Classroom for their class period. I regularly update it with upcoming dates, announcements, and class content such as notes, assignment details, and other important information. Some assignments will be completed in Google Classroom this year to help move us in a “paperless” direction. We will be using Google Classroom and integrating technology into the classroom on a regular basis. However, technology can also be a distraction. Cell phones will be prohibited from my class unless we are having a BYOD (bring your own device) day in class.
Grading and Reassessment
Major Grades: 60% (tests, projects, common assessments)
Minor Grades: 40% (quizzes, ticket-outs, daily assignments)
There have been some changes in Denton ISD's reassessment policy this year. Here are some key points:
Who can reassess?
If you have received less than a 90% and have no missing work, you may reassess. You cannot reassess on any essays or long-term projects.
If you have completed the relearning and tutoring given by your teacher, you may reassess.
When can I reassess?
You may reassess before or after school within 4 school days of receiving your grade.
You may only reassess once within that 4 day period.
What will my grade look like?
On reassessments, you may retest up to a 90%. If you did better on the original test, the reassessment will not count.
Once again, 90% is the highest score you can make on a reassessment!
For further information regarding grading practices, please see the Denton ISD Grading Policy.
Missing or Absent Work
'MSG' in HAC means that a student has not completed the work. It is averaging in as a zero into the student's overall grade until the work is turned in.
'0' in HAC means the student scored a zero on the assessment.
Absent Work - Students need to check the 'Absent Work' bins when they have missed class for any reason. Here they will find information on lessons, materials, and assessments that they need to get caught up on. It is the student's responsibility to check for absent work and bring it to me to be initialed.
Formative Assignments - If an assignment is listed as “formative” in the category section, this is unweighted. Unweighted assignments do not affect student averages and are used as a means of communication on student progress and responsibility of turning in work.
