Hello and welcome!
I'm excited to join you in your educational journey this year! AP English III is a class filled with challenge and relevance. We will be diving into predominantly nonfiction texts as we explore past and present approaches to making and supporting arguments. We will look at how to evaluate sources and arguments so you have all the tools necessary to know who and what to believe in a world inundated with information. And once you have learned that, you will directly apply it in your own writing.
A little bit about me:
Reading and writing have been my passion since I was a little girl. I never left the house without a book in hand and I penned my first novel at fourteen (attempted to--it was terrible). With such an early start, I guess it comes as no great surprise I decided to be an English teacher. This is my eighth year as a high school English teacher and my twelfth year as an educator. I’m also a Psychology professor at Collin College, a world traveler (18 countries and counting), I’ve written three books, and in my spare time (catch the joke there?), I work with a literary agent screening manuscripts. I’m mother to three amazing children, two of whom are fellow Braswell students.
