Tyler Fox is beginning his 10th year at Guyer High School. During his time as a Guyer Wildcat, he has successfully led choirs to sweepstakes UIL Contest appearances as well as superlative awards at other competitive music festivals. Students under his coaching and support have earned placement in the TMEA All-Region Choirs as well as the North Texas 9/10 Honor Choir. He has also established the Wildtags Barbershop Chorus, a small male performing group that has been recognized as a premier high school barbershop chorus in the region during its first two seasons. Mr. Fox is consistently amazed by the kindness, resilience, and passion of the parents, students, and teachers in the Guyer Zone.
Before coming to Guyer, Mr. Fox was the Head Choir Director at Navo Middle School, part of Denton ISD's Braswell Vertical Zone. During his time at Navo, he maintained a culture of excellence in Navo's Varsity Treble Choir while setting a new standard of performance and competition for the school's Non-Varsity Men's and Women's Choirs, leading both to their first UIL performances in years. Navo choirs under Mr. Fox's direction consistently earned sweepstakes at UIL contest as well as Best-in-Class awards at other music festivals.
Tyler Fox is a proud graduate of Baylor University, where he was able to sing in choirs under the direction of Dr. Lynne Gackle, Dr. Alan Raines, Mrs. Dinah Menger, and Dr. Randall Bradley. He was also a proud member, accompanist, and finally director of the Baylor Religious Hour Choir during his time at Baylor, leading the choir through dozens of concerts and services and two international choir tours during his two years in leadership. Mr. Fox has also been certified as a Kodaly Level II Choral Educator through SMU's summer training and certification program under the direction of László Durányik and Lenke Igó.
His passion for music was kindled and nurtured by his teachers in Baton Rouge, LA, where he attended Baton Rouge Magnet High School for the Performing Arts, studying choral directing under Mr. Robbie Giroir and jazz piano under Mr. Mike Esneault. He also studied piano privately under Dr. Willis Delony, Mrs. Jan Swetman, and Dr. James Williams, and studied voice with Mr. Skip Harris, Ms. Kathy Drake, Mr. Jack Coldiron, and Dr. Curtis Streetman.
Tyler Fox lives with his wife Madie, daughter Penelope, and son Jack in North Denton, where you can often find them biking around downtown or walking to Ravelin Bakery on the weekends.
