For women and children in developing countries, the average distance round trip to access water is 6 kilometers, a little more than 3.7 miles. The total weight typically carried (usually on a woman’s head) is 44 pounds of water poured into a 20-liter jerrycan.
Access to clean water is a human right that 1.1 billion people are in dire need of.
In order to combat this problem, we are hosting a Water Walk to both raise awareness and collect donations for the charity WaterAid.
STUCO's Water Walk is on April 23rd from 10am -3pm.
Entry fee will be $5, and all proceeds will go towards WaterAid.
It will be held at Eureka Park, 501 Hobson Ln, Denton, TX 76205
