Canvas is our designated LMS (Learning Management System) for Secondary Students in Denton ISD. An LMS assists teachers in maintaining unity of learning platforms by enabling teachers to efficiently and effectively develop learning materials, deliver instructions/resources, and foster collaboration and communication between students and teachers. 

The resources below are a great starting point to connect with your student and learn more about our chosen LMS, Canvas.

CONNECTING WITH YOUR STUDENTS IN CANVAS

Parents can connect to their student's Canvas accounts to see their grades and upcoming assignments.  This is called becoming a "Parent Observer". To do this, follow the steps below. 

STEP ONE - GENERATE A PAIRING CODE

To link yourself to a student, you will need to enter a student-specific pairing code. Pairing codes are case sensitive and are valid for seven days. STEP TWO - CREATE YOUR PARENT OBSERVER ACCOUNT

Your Canvas information will look different depending on if you are using a web browser or app.
