Mariachi Los Broncos

Mariachi Los Broncos

The DHS Mariachi group began in the Fall of 2016.  This is an outstanding group of young musicians who enjoy performing different genres of music and learning more about the Hispanic culture which is rich in tradition and musical style. No experience is necessary for students who choose to learn guitar, vihuela, or guitarron.

We have big plans for Mariachi this year!  If you are interested in joining Mariachi for the 2022-2023 school year, please email Mrs. Cubero at scubero@dentonisd.org.

Mr. Jason Molina - DHS Mariachi Teacher

Jason Molina is a current student at the University of North Texas where he is finishing his studies in music. He plays mariachi music professionally with Mariachi Quetzal, which he also directs, and has been involved in mariachi since he was eighteen years old. Mariachi Quetzal has played with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and has opened for Mariachi Sol de Mexico, among other performances. Jason plays the guitar, guitarron, vihuela, and trumpet. He was a member of UNT's Mariachi Aguilas for four years and went on to direct the ensemble for one year. He also taught at UNT's summer mariachi camps, along with attending various mariachi conferences in New Mexico and Texas. Jason spent the last two years working at the Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy and has also directed the mariachi at McMath Middle School in the recent past. He enjoys keeping the music of mariachi alive, helping musicians grow and learn, and helping raise the level of musicianship within the mariachi community.
