DANCE Mission Statement:
The IB (MYP) aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect through Dance. DHS Dance Education contributes to the total development of a young adult through Physical Education and Fine Arts. Our focus is to develop and enrich the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual aspects in one’s life. Dance Education provides the opportunity to emphasize a healthy lifestyle, to experience the joy of exploring movement, and to embrace a variety of cultures and dance traditions. The physical movement in dance education also provides the opportunity to accentuate international awareness by studying the global nature of exercise and movement through comparison of common interests and exploration of activities unique to other cultures.
