The end of the year is always a time of celebration. We are honnored to award several theatre students the Oustanding Theatre Arts Student Award. Students are awarded for their dedication to better the program, leadership in the classroom, and going above and beyond on classroom assignments.
Early in the sebmester all theatre students take part in the the distircts UIL design contest. Students spent time studying Homer’s The Odyssey for Kids adapted by Amanda Ruby & Brendon P. Kelso. Students worked on designs for the following categories: Costume Design, Set Design, Marketing Design, and Hair and Makeup design.
We had several students place in the contest. Their awards are listed below:

- Second Place in the District for Hair and Makeup Design
- Distinguished Merit District Costume Design
- Top Guyer Zone Hair and Makeup Design

- Distinguished Merit District Marketing Design
Thanks to the wonderful education department at Stage West in Fort Worth, Tx our upper level theatre student were able to engage in workshops to broaden their theatre knowledge. Student were able to take workshops in Musical Theatre Dance, Scenic Painting, Sword Stage Combat, Hand Sewing Techniques, and Voice Over Acting. Thank you Stage West for a wonderful field trip.
Thanks to Junior Tours crownover theatre once again traveled to NYC over spring break. We explored the city took workshops in stage combat and musical theatre dance. We also ran in to Jessica Vosk and was appart of her Vosk In The City series on Tiktok and Youtube. To round off the trip we of course had to see the broadway show Wicked!
Our spring show of Night of the Macabre by Tracy Wells will be directed by our amazing thespian officers. They will direct the following scenes:

The Red Room - Directed by Emily Smith & Kisha Patel

The Monkey’s Paw - Directed by Cooper Thompson & Braden Brooks
The Velvet Ribbon - Directed by Kisha Patel & Melissa Holguin
The Yellow Wallpaper - Directed by Melissa Holguin & Emily Smith
Not only will the officers be directing scenes for the spring show but they will be taking on the following roles:
Melissa Holguin who is head of acting.
Levi Michelle Garrett who is head of costumes and cosmetics.
Emily Smith who is head of props and set design.
Giovanni Mateos who is our head of lighting and sound.
Braden Brooks who is head of Event Coordination.
Cooper Thompson who is the head of communication.
Kisha Patel who is overseeing it all!
We are beyond proud of our company as they told story of Rue written by Mandy Conner. This season we walked away with the following awards:

Crownover students had a great time supporting our amazing feeder high school's production of Disney's Frozen! Aways great to see our Alums shine on stage.
Junior Thepians held a Christmas Karaoke to help set the holiday season!
We had a great time meeting other members and officers through participating in ensemble building activities.
A great trip thanks to Junior Tours! Students were able to see the sights of the big apple. They were also able to take two workshops lead by broadway professionals. They attended an evening performance of Hamilton, and had a private meet and greet thanks to their directors. Thank you to Denton ISD for allowing our students to explore our world and empowering their artistic growth.
