Class Overview
We strive to promote a healthy lifestyle while teaching our students to develop skills, knowledge, and concepts needed to create a healthy and balanced life. Our gym is a fun, safe space for our students to build and maintain positive relationships through team building and sportsmanship. We encourage the development and practice of social and cooperative skills including: decision making, problem solving, goal setting, communication, negotiation, assertiveness, and advocacy skills.
Please help us set up our kiddos for success. Our students should wear rubber sole tennis shoes or pack these shoes in their backpack on days that they have PE. If your child is planning to wear a skirt/dress, please make sure that they wear shorts underneath the skirt/dress. Please don't hesitate to reach out if we can help in any way. This month in PE...
August:
What an AWESOME start to the new school year! The first few classes of the year focus on establishing the learning environment to help students become familiar with "how we do stuff" when we are in P.E. I teach the procedures through active play and allowing students ample time to practice and become familiar with our routines. Our primary (K-2) students worked on starting & stopping with the music, finding personal space, moving safely in shared space, and making groups with different numbers of people. Our intermediate students reviewed the gym procedures and worked on initiating conversations with a variety of people to find partners and then work on completing challenges with those people.
