Ms. Brown grew up playing cello in her public school orchestra in Iowa, and studied music education at the University of Central Florida. She has taught orchestras in the North Texas area for 24 years. Ms. Brown was the recipient of the TexASTA "Young String Teacher of the Year" award (2005) and the TODA "Director of Distinction" award (2022). Prior to founding the Cheek Middle School Orchestra, she taught in Plano, McKinney, and Irving. She is a frequent clinician and adjudicator for TMEA and UIL events, and her students are consistent top award and scholarship winners.
In addition to being a teacher and a cellist, Ms. Brown is also an avid road cyclist, reader, amateur artist, and dog mom to 16 year old shelter pup Maggie.
