Under Construction
Homework is given on a weekly basis and will contain material for the week of. It will be provided on Mondays by being placed at a specific location. I will have notes on the board where our Agenda will be reminding kids to grab a copy, as well as a verbal reminder given by me or the coteacher. I will leave this stack out through Tuesday. By then, I will pull it back to my desk where your child will have to ask.
If your child is absent Monday/Tuesday, they may pick up the copy whichever day they return but will still need to complete it.
Homework is due on Fridays, or Thursdays should the week end on that day. If the week is short, I may decide on holding off on the homework.
I will email an answer key each week with my weekly email. If you are not receiving these emails, please contact me for further instructions to see if we can alleviate the issue.
Tutoring will be offered for free every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday that school is in session (unless otherwise notified). I will be available for your child to join for extra help during mornings without any pre arrangements. Please know this space will be available on an ‘as needed’ basis and cannot be used as a one on one tutoring session. Below is a list of usages tutoring will be available for:
Completing homework, getting questions answered regarding tough questions on homework.
Working on reviews for grades that require reassessment. These assignments will be provided in a folder located in a specified space.
Reassessments on successfully reviewed material.
Independent practice time (IXL)
Times for morning tutorials are 7:45am (it is best utilized when your student is here as soon as the doors open and heads to class as quickly as possible) to 8:05am, this provides students time to pack their things back up and head to 1st period without being tardy.
Peer-to-peer help is frequently utilized during this time as well as.
Tutorials after school will only be provided when prearranged. I will not be available after 3:45/4pm
Chromebooks, as much as many of our would rather not, have become a vital material for student success in the classroom. The district has made sure that our students are at a ratio of one-to-one (one student to one Chromebook).
It is expected that the student charge their Chromebook every night, and bring it to school every day. If this is an issue, please do not hesitate to let me know and I will kindly provide space for them to drop in during tutorials and charge it. I will not, however, provide space for them to charge it because they simply do not remember to charge it at night. This will only be provided on a needed basis.
If a student is missing their Chromebook on days they are being utilized, they will be provided with a textbook and have an alternative assignment. I no long am provided with a few backup Chromebooks in my classroom for these situations.
If a student abuses the privlege of the Chromebook, they will lose their opportunity to use it in this class. Students will be provided 3 strikes a quarter. If they lose their privlege two quarters, it will be lost for the remainder of the year. Should your child lose their Chromebook usage in this class, they will be provided with an alternative assignment in the textbook.
Strikes are accrued when students are not on the material we are working on for the day. I actively utilize GoGuardian which will monitor their usage of the Chromebook.
I will email you each time I notice they are not where they should be. In these emails, I will send you a screenshot to show you the site/activity they were on.

From time to time, students will be required to review and reassess on graded material. The gradebook will automate an email as soon as I publish a grade that needs attention. Often, these emails will be generated for any grade considered to be failing (0-69).
Students are also able to review and reassess on content that they score any grade from 70 to 89. Please know district policy does not allow for grades 90 and above to be reassessed on any more.
Should your child need to reassess, they are welcome to join during any open tutoring session. They will be required to complete a review as a means to demonstrate growth on the skill needing some more attention. I will often provide time for them to complete the review, and will help focus on the questions they are struggling on. Upon successful completion, we will schedule a day for your child to come in to reassess. Please know all graded material must be completed in class.
I will grade the reassessment, often immediately should time provide, or within the week, and post the grade in the gradebook. You should then be able to see an “R” or “C” beside their grade or a speech bubble. This will let you know their reassessment process for that grade has been completed.
Please know that only a grade change will occur if your child demonstrates growth and the score increases. If they somehow score lower than their original score, I will not lower their grade but will post a comment “reassessment complete”.
