Denton ISD offers a private lesson program before and after school, as well as during your student’s regular orchestra class.
All teachers listed have been selected by interview, approved by the district, and screened through a background check.
The standard rate for lessons offered during school hours or in a district school building is $22 per 30-minute lesson.
(This is often WAY LESS than private instructors outside of school settings.)
Students enrolled in private lessons are expected to take one lesson per week.

PHOENIX MILACEK
Violin & Viola Instructor
Phoenix Milacek is currently a junior pursuing a bachelor's degree in Music Education at the University of North Texas, studying under Professor Julia Bushkova and Professor Kevork Esmeryan. Phoenix has been playing the violin for 8 years. Since graduating high school, Phoenix has performed solo and ensemble works in addition to serving as musical theatre pit musician. As an educator, Phoenix is passionate about musical growth, personal growth through music, and making music accessible to all types of people. When not teaching, Phoenix is either working, studying, or playing board games with friends.
SARAH HART
Cello Instructor
Sarah Hart is a music major at the University of North Texas. She has been playing cello for over a decade as well as upper strings. Sarah was a decorated All Region and All State throughout high school and also played with the New Philharmonic Orchestra of Irving. While at UNT, Sarah has participated in classical and chamber ensembles as well as jazz performance opportunities with both students and faculty.
ALAIN MPINDA
Bass Instructor
Alain Mpinda is a Braswell High School Orchestra Alumni and Denton local. He is currently an undergraduate Music Education student at the University of North Texas, studying under Dr. Gudrun Raschen and Professor Jeffery Bradetich. He has been a private lesson instructor in DISD for 3 years and is passionate about music education in underrepresented communities and empowering students to find community in music. When he is not teaching, Alain is an active member of the University of North Texas Wind Orchestra and enjoys working out, running, and sharing a meal with friends.
