A Message From the Sponsor

"Being part of Guitar Club has been a great honor. Seeing students with this shared desire to play guitar and be apart of each other's musical journey is inspiring. I've since delved into more technical styles of playing that I've always wanted to learn but never had the support to commit to. The dedication of our officers is astounding and I see great things coming of this new community."

Background

I've been playing guitar since I was 13 years old. Primarily, I wanted to learn how to play and sing songs that I was fond of, one of which was Good Riddance by Green Day. I also gravitated to that song because my first guitar was acoustic and I've mostly played acoustic since then. A turning point in my playing came when I learned how to finger pick which happened when I was 19 when I was trying to play Such Great Heights by Iron and Wine. That was a cover of the song of the same name by the band Postal Service, and I learned that I really enjoy playing acoustic covers of songs that were very far from acoustic. A few of my most appreciated acoustic covers include songs by the Gorillaz and MGMT.
