Mrs. Brockette has been working in Educational Theatre for over 30 years. She has taught at the high school and middle school level as well as serving as an Education Director for a community theater in Corpus Christi. She is also a musical theatre performer who has appeared in such shows as A Chorus Line, Cabaret, The Secret Garden, Pump Boys and Dinettes, and Hair.
Prior to teaching in a public school classroom, Mrs. Brockette ran bowling centers for the Brunswick Corporation and is a Level 1 & 2 certified coach. A huge fan of karaoke and watching her kids play sports, she spends most of her free time at various sporting facilities in the area and watching her husband perform with his Country and Western band.
Mrs. Brockette's philosophy for teaching theatre is rooted in a quote by Willem Dafoe: "Great theater is about challenging how we think and encouraging us to fantasize about a world we aspire to." Theatre teaches us collaboration, trust, and empathy. Great theatre helps us to be better citizens of the world. Her hope for students this year is that they will leave class able to speak comfortably about those things they are passionate about, be able to work on a team to accomplish goals, and discover something new about themselves and how it relates to their place in society.
