AP Registration

 AP Classroom Access and Exam Registration Information

Denton ISD encourages every student in an AP course to take the AP exam. In 2025, 16 AP Exams are going fully digital and 12 exams are going hybrid digital, please visit the AP Digital website for more information. Haga clic aquí para español.

All students in an AP course must complete AP Registration - even if they do not plan to take the AP Exam. Registration provides access to the College Board’s AP Classroom, which offers instructional materials, progress checks, and exam preparation tools. 

AP Registration will take place in AP classes during the first few weeks of school, with guidance from AP teachers. 

Please read carefully and thoroughly. 

AP Registration - Two Steps

Step 1: Total Registration

Total Registration (TR) is where students will register for all enrolled AP courses, receive join codes to access AP Classroom, indicate their exam intentions,and submit exam payments. 

Information needed to complete TR:

• Student’s AP schedule (course/period) and teacher's last name

• Parent email address

• Payment (not required during initial setup; must be completed by the payment deadline)

Step 2:  AP Classroom

AP Classroom is the official College Board platform designed to support AP students. It provides access to course materials, instructional videos, progress checks, and practice questions. Students use this platform regularly as part of their AP coursework, and teachers assign activities and monitor student progress through it.

Information needed for AP Classroom:

Student’s College Board Account –  Students must have a College Board account to register in AP Classroom.

• If you already have one from a previous AP course or PSAT/SAT, use the same account.

• If you do not have one, create it using a school email address.

Your College Board account will be used to:

• Join AP Classroom and access course materials

• Take AP Digital Exams

• View AP Exam scores

• Prepare for and view PSAT/SAT scores

AP Exam Important Dates and Deadlines:

First day of school : AP exam registration opens and students register during their AP class. 

November 1st : Deadline:

• Completion of BOTH steps above for full-year and 1st-semester (fall) courses 

• Deposit payment deadline (can pay in full)

• Fall course refund deadline (minus $4 nonrefundable processing fee)

February 14th : Deadline:

• Completion of BOTH steps above for 2nd-semester (spring) courses

• Final payment deadline for all AP Exams including full year, 1st semester only courses, and 2nd semester only courses.

AP Exam payment 

All payments must be made through Total Registration

Log in to Total Registration to 

• Pay online

• Submit payment by mail (personal check, cashier’s, or money order). 

• Cash is not accepted. 

Students who DO NOT receive free/reduced lunch services

Cost per exam is $100

• $40 deposit per exam due by November 1st. 

  • The remaining balance is due by February 14th. 

• Option to pay in full by November 1st. 

• Cost for the 5th, 6th, or 7th exam is $50 per exam

Students who DO receive free/reduced lunch services

Cost per exam is $20

• $20 deposit per exam due by November 1st. 

• The cost for the 5th, 6th, or 7th exam is $10 per exam

Additional Payment Information

• Total Registration charges a  $2.75 fee for each partial payment. 

• NO REFUNDS will be issued after the deadlines above.

AP Exam Policies and Procedures

Payment: Payment in full or a deposit is due by the dates listed above to avoid your exam order being canceled. No refunds will be issued after the deadlines above. 

Accommodations: College Board requires accommodations to be approved through their Service for Students with Disabilities (SSD) portal for all College Board exams. Students who receive accommodations in school do NOT automatically qualify for the accommodations on the College Board Advanced Placement exam - even if they have an IEP or 504. The request for accommodations MUST be approved by College Board’s SSD. The deadline for the CTC to submit accommodations request to College Board is January 16.

Test Day Procedures: Students must arrive for their exam at 7:30am or 11:45am depending on if their exam takes place in the morning or afternoon; AP Exam Information. Specific testing information will be emailed prior to testing. Students must bring a photo ID, pencils, pens, and charged district-issued Chromebook if taking a digital AP exam. Phones are NOT allowed in the testing room. Any student caught with a phone during the test will have their test stopped and canceled. 

Attendance: If you arrive late or miss your AP exam you will NOT be allowed to test and will be expected in your classes. There is NO late testing available unless the student has a school-related event conflict or a conflict with another exam. All school-related conflicts must be communicated to the campus testing coordinator prior to February 14th, 2025

  • Students who used their school email address for their College Board account are encouraged to update their information to their personal email address before graduation.

Home School Students

Home school students interested in taking AP Exams at their zoned Denton ISD high school campus must complete this registration form, the same registration steps above, and payment all by November 1st. 

• When selecting your courses/exams in Total Registration (Step 1), choose “Independent Study”.

• If an exam is not listed on the Total Registration site, we do not offer that exam at that campus.
