We are very excited for this month filled with lots of exciting events and of course LEARNING! Below is important information that you need to know for your child to be successful at school.
Start time - School opens at 7:15 for breakfast and students may enter classrooms at 7:30. Students will be tardy after 7:45 because our day of learning starts.
Dismissal - If you are needing to complete a dismissal change, this must be communicated to the front office (not just the teacher) by 1:30pm each day. Car dismissal will begin at 3:00pm. If your child is a car rider, ensure that you have your car tag ready and visible for carline pickup. Walkers do not dismiss until 3:10.
Water bottles - It is extremely important that your child brings a water bottle to school DAILY. Students will be able to refill their water bottles at school. All water bottles must have a leak proof top with their name labeled on the water bottle. Students should only have water, no Gatorade/water packets/juice etc. Students spill their bottles a lot and water is much easier to clean up, and protects other students who are predisposed to allergies.
ID's- Students will need their ID each day for breakfast, lunch, and the library. If they lose this, it is a $5 replacement cost. Also, students who ride the bus need their ID as well. These will be coming home in the coming weeks.
Extras - Please, send your student with a jacket that will keep them warm incase our class gets chilly. It is recommended that students keep a change of clothes in their backpacks in case of emergencies; the school nurse will no longer have extra clothes available for the school year.
7th- First Day of School
29th- Watch D.O.G.S Kickoff
30th- 1/2 Days & National College Colors Day
Reading- We encourage your child to read for 20 minutes each night, totaling 80 minutes a week. We understand that extracurricular activities and busy schedules might sometimes make nightly reading challenging. Therefore, we recommend aiming for the 80-minute weekly goal as a flexible alternative to ensure consistent reading habits. Students who read daily are proven to improve critical reading skills which are crucial to academic success in all areas.
Math- Your child’s math teacher will be sending math homework home every Monday, with assignments due by Friday. Further details about this will be provided soon.
Our third grade teacher conference time is from 10:55-11:40. Parent meetings can be scheduled for this time or after school. This is also a time that your child's teacher will respond via email or phone call, if they are not in team planning. Teachers are unable to answer the phone during instruction time. Teachers have 24 hours (Monday through Friday) to respond to any schedule requests or questions.
Class Dojo will be used to communicate for newsletters, pictures of learning, announcements, and flyers.
Email, phone calls and in person conferences will be used to discuss topics related to behavior and academics.
If there is a transportation change you MUST inform the front office to ensure all staff members know how to get your child home by 1:30pm, and not just the classroom teacher.
During the initial weeks of school, we will embark on a journey to establish a foundation for our learning environment. Our focus will be on introducing and reinforcing classroom and school expectations, all while fostering a warm and inclusive community. This is an exciting time where we will build strong, supportive relationships that will sustain us throughout the entire school year.
In the upcoming newsletters, you can look forward to a special section dedicated to each subject your child will be attending throughout the school day. Here, we will provide insights into the learning objectives and the exciting topics we will be covering in class.
Stay tuned for updates that will keep you informed and engaged in your child’s educational journey!
Per administration, all teachers must take their classes on a morning and afternoon restroom break each day. While we do allow students who are having an emergency to use the restroom during class, this should not be happening frequently. Please make sure your child uses the restroom right before coming to school and talk with them about behaving in the restroom and hygiene. This is not a place to be socializing. We appreciate your support!
