Art I will be fundamental in making SMS Viking Art the best in the district. We will be learning ways and means to be the best drawers in the area, and also share conversations on how art may and does affect our everyday lives.

Meet the Teacher

My name is John Thompson, and this will be my 8th year teaching art in Denton ISD, but my first year back after a ten year hiatus. I hold a BFA in Drawing & Painting and a Masters in Art Education from the University of North Texas.

Outside the SMS art studio I have a lovely wife, Kalah, who also teaches at SMS as an 8th grade ELAR teacher. We have three dogs- Lou, Vonn, and Nella. We run Denton MAC where we teach martial arts and Olympic weightlifting. I'm also working diligently on my graphic novel which I hope to self publish.
