Classroom Expectations for All Students:
Be on time with all materials for class
Ask questions! The goal is to learn and asking questions is IMPORTANT!
“Do Right.” Do what you are supposed to do.
Cell phones, smartwatches, and headphones are Not allowed!
Tutorials: Tutorials will be available in the morning Wednesday from 8:10 - 8:40 and Friday afterschool. Please let me know ahead of time if you plan to attend a tutorial session especially for the morning so that I can let you into the building. All tutorial times are by appointment only.
Supplies: The only supplies you will need for this class is a notebook that is dedicated only for this class, highlighters, and pencils. I would recommend a two subject notebook, one section for notes and one section for assignments. The more organized you are the better! If you cannot get these materials, please let me know. You need to have these materials as soon as possible. You will be assigned a Springboard textbook that we will be using frequently.
In addition, you need to have a device that can connect to the internet, preferably a Chromebook.
Grading: Your grade will be broken up into 2 different categories. Major summative, minor summative.
Major Summative - 70% - Unit tests or projects. Most unit tests will have multiple major grades built in. Typically 2-3 per unit.
Minor Summative - 30% - Quizzes, unit test reviews and some parts of unit tests. We will quiz frequently in class. Typically 2-3 per unit.
Re-Assessment Policy: Reassessment occurs under the following conditions.
A. The student has scored less than a 90 on the assessment.
B. High School students must complete formative assessments/assignments related to the summative (as determined by the teacher) prior to the FIRST ASSESSMENT opportunity.
C. The student engages in additional learning opportunities/assignments as determined by the teacher (tutorials).
D. The student may reassess within FOUR (4) school days of the student receiving the grade on the original assessment unless extenuating circumstances exist.*
E. The student may reassess no later than FOUR (4) school days into the next grading period.
NOTE: Minor summative grades are NOT eligible for reassessment.
Academic Integrity: Integrity and honesty are critical in my classroom. Cheating will be handled in a 3 step process with parent communication. Any act of dishonesty reflects upon you.
Canvas: Canvas will be used daily throughout the year for various things including classwork/homework, quizzes, and tests. You should already have your log in/be able to log in. If you cannot log in for whatever reason, please let me know.
I am looking forward to a GREAT year and am thankful for the opportunity to be YOUR teacher! I am here to help you, teach you, and allow you to grow as a person in my classroom! Let’s make this year AWESOME!
