4th graders have 5-10 minutes to eat ONE snack during class at a specified time. Get ideas for nutritious snacks here.
Chips of any kind, including and not limited to Takis, are NOT allowed as a snack. Students may NOT bring a family size bag of chips to school. If a student would like to bring chips they may ONLY eat them at lunch and the serving MUST be in a single serve sandwich style bag.
Candy, cupcakes, cookies, pudding, and similar foods mostly made of sugar are NOT allowed at snack. A student may ONLY eat a food item like this during lunch and they must only bring a single serving size.
Teachers must follow the policy, below. Parents, please help us comply with this policy.
"Prepackaged snacks must comply with the fat and sugar limits of the Texas Public School Nutrition Policy, and must be single size servings. All snacks (homemade and prepackaged) may not contain any Foods of Minimal Nutritional Value (FMNVs), such as chips or Takis, or consist of candy or dessert type items (cookies, cakes, cupcakes, pudding, ice cream or frozen desserts, etc.). No Toys Allowed at Alexander
In 4th grade, all toys, or items used inappropriately or as a toy, will be taken up and returned at the end of the school year unless a parent/guardian picks it up from the front office.
The only exception will be a sports ball for recess. All personal items are the student’s responsibility and if used inappropriately they may not be allowed to bring a sports ball in the future.

In Denton ISD we follow a standards-based grading system in elementary. It reports a child’s progress toward meeting state and district standards in areas of content and performance. It gives specific information on a student’s level of proficiency on a given standard. The goal is for your student to be a "3" for each standard by the end of the year.
Report Card Grades:
1 = Beginning
2 = Progressing
3 = Independently Demonstrate Mastery of Standard (goal)
4 = Advanced Understanding of Standard (not common)

The SSO is Denton ISD's Single Sign-On portal and is one location where students can access all apps and websites connected to their account as a student. Students will almost always start at the SSO.
>>>> Look at this >>>> About the SSO
Once they input their username and password to login they will be automatically signed into other apps with one click of a button. Using the SSO to login prevents most issues students may have accessing their accounts.
Students will be assigned a username and password at the beginning of the year and we suggest writing it down in a safe place.
There are several ways to find the SSO:
Go to the Denton ISD Home Page
Click the heading at the top that says DISD SSO Portal
Students enter the same username and password we use in class.
Alternately, do a google search for Denton ISD SSO
Finally, click here to access the SSO
