A Group: If your room is a downstairs interior (no windows to the outside) you will move to one side of the room and assume the duck and cover position.

A Group: If your room is downstairs, but surrounded by a lot of glass, you will go the location listed below keeping away from outside doors and windows, once in place assume the duck and cover position

B Group: If your room is a downstairs room with windows, you will move to the hall and line the space located directly in front of your classroom keeping clear of outside doors and windows. Once lined up, please have learners assume the duck and cover position.

A Group: If your room is an upstairs interior/exterior room you will move down the stairs and into the interior room that is directly below your room. Once in place please assume the duck and cover position

A Group: Locker Room and Gym Areas move outside of the locker rooms to the hall behind the large gyms and assume the duck and cover position
All office areas: Enter location in your office that does not have windows and assume the duck and cover position.
LOCK DOWN PROCEDURES
This drill will be used to secure all classrooms, restrict movement and control access.
LOCK DOWN - FULL LOCK DOWN PROCEDURES
Ø The code to announce this drill to the staff and students is:
LOCK DOWN-LOCKS-LIGHTS-OUT OF SIGHT
Ø DO NOT USE CELL PHONES!
Ø Immediately pull magnet off of the door jam and pull down the window covering and remain in room. Crisis Team members will gear down outside doors as instructed.
Ø Keep students absolutely quiet. They can remain in desks if they are out of sight of any classroom window/s
Ø Close blinds and turn off all lights.
Ø Stay away from doors and windows. (THE OBJECT IS TO BE OUT OF SIGHT)
Ø Do NOT open the door for anyone.
Ø Follow the directions of Crisis Team and District Emergency Communications Procedures
Ø If you must contact main office, call 6426 (Main Office)
Ø ALL CLEAR is the signal that will allow staff and students to return to normal routine activities.
LOCK OUT – PARTIAL LOCK DOWN PROCEDURES
Ø The code to announce this drill to the staff and students is:

Ø Do NOT use cell phones
Ø Immediately pull magnet off of the door jam and remain in the room. No one Is to be in the hallways.

CRISIS MANAGEMENT PLAN
Sub/Emergency Folders:
The yellow emergency folder must be kept in a visible location in the classroom, either on a podium or on top of the teacher desk. It should be with the teacher in the case of any type of emergency or an emergency drill.
The folder must contain the following items:
Ø CHS Crisis Management Plan (this document)
Ø Copy of class rosters (update these each 9 weeks)
Ø Campus map (no routes are posted on)
Student Attendance
In the event of an Evacuation/Fire, or Lock down shelter drill, all teachers must take attendance immediately upon arrival in the
EVACUATION PROCEDURES (follow any time the fire alarm sounds)
The following plan will be used in case of a FIRE OR BOMB THREAT.
Ø Close all classroom windows and doors and turn off lights.
Ø Teacher will instruct students to take the normal evacuation route as posted on their evacuation map. Alternate route (in yellow on the evacuation map) should be used if main route is obstructed. Students should evacuate the building in an orderly fashion with no talking. The teacher will follow students and remain with the class at the designated safety zone.
Ø Teacher will take the sub/emergency folder with class rosters located inside folder.
Ø Take attendance immediately upon arrival to the designated safe zone.
Ø Indicate to the safety zone check-in staff member of any additional students you may have with you OR that may be missing
Ø Remain in the safety zone until an announcement is made to re-enter the building.
Evacuation Maps are posted by the classroom or office door. Normal routes are indicated in RED and alternate routes are indicated in YELLOW.
