About Me

Hello! I grew up in Gresham, Oregon with my parents and younger brother. After graduating from Gresham High School I attended Concordia University and played both volleyball and golf for the Cavaliers. In 2010 I received my Bachelor's Degree in Education. After graduating, I moved to Arizona where I taught middle school math for seven years. In 2017, I married the love of my life, found out we were expecting our first child, and received my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a Math Emphasis. Our beautiful daughter was born in June 2018 and I am very excited to be starting my ninth year of teaching at CHS.

Teaching Philosophy

Mathematics is the study of patterns and utilizes logic and reasoning to make connections to the world. I believe that all students can learn mathematics. It is my job to facilitate learning by providing collaborative and interactive opportunities to examine mathematical relationships and patterns. My goal is for students to improve their creative problem solving skills, critical thinking skills, perseverance, and their ability to collaborate with others. I believe that if students can write and talk about mathematics, they show they truly understand. Each student comes to my classroom with unique personalities, strengths, weaknesses, and learning preferences and it is my mission to help students expand upon their strengths and improve their weaknesses. I want my students to understand that with a growth mindset and grit, they can accomplish any goal.
