North Carolina Newspaper:
I searched through North Carolina digital archives to find actual newsprint from 1964. Once I found the print, I used photoshop to orient the page to 11 x 17 and printed directly onto four pages of newsprint (front and back). the two pages where then joined together at the spine with scrap newsprint to create one full page.

Initial Blanket Pull
Young Violet's Final Blanket
After Young Violet's accident, she is seen being carried by her father. She is covering her face with a blanket, hiding the open gash down her face. Our Director wanted the blanket to feel like it was an older family blanket or quilt that had been hand made by her mother. At first, I began to pull some baby blankets, but none of them had the handmade look we were going for. So I figured if it needs to look handmade, then it should be handmade. I found a crochet yarn that matched the more neutral/warm color scheme and got to work!

Baltimore Catechism:
Violet Carries her mother's old Baltimore Catechism throughout the duration of the show. It was used by her mother and now even Violet as a journal of sorts. I found a book that fit the same dimensions of my research and decided to used photoshop as my basis for the cover. I color matched the image to my book and began to create texture overlays to match the texture of the cover. The cover was then printed and glued on to the book and I added some gold foil lines to create some dimension.
