Impact Categories:
For this LCA we chose to consider the impact categories of abiotic depletion, acidification, eutrophication, photochemical oxidation, global warming potential and toxicity. The Toxicity category is general and includes contributions from the Human, Freshwater aquatic, Marine aquatic, and Terrestrial toxicity categories. These were combined as they all produced the same output.
Justification:
We chose these impact categories, and this number of them, because we wanted a detailed picture of just how our product impacts the environment. All the categories chosen have featured heavily in environmental impact assessments and so we were confident that using them was valid and would help us come to a solid conclusion. Additionally, by including so many categories, we get a better sense of the holistic impact of our product.
