Dr. Bryan Miller, Lab Director of the Drugs and Crime Research Lab, was awarded Educator of the Year at the Southern Criminal Justice Association 2024 Conference for his excellence in mentorship, authorship, and innovative perspectives.
Miller was also recognized along with Drugs and Crime Research Lab affiliates Mary Beth Kurz and Thomas Sharkey for their collaborative work between social sciences and industrial engineering exploring synthetic opioids with the 2024 College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences (CECAS) Faculty Collaboration Award.
Kyle McLean, Principal Investigator with the Drugs and Crime Research Lab, was recognized with the American Society of Criminology Division of Policing Early Career Award at the 2023 American Society of Criminology meeting in Philadelphia, PA.
McLean was also recognized for his research contributions to the university as the "Faculty of the Game" at the 2024 Clemson vs. Citadel football game.
Abby Curran, Research Associate with the Drugs and Crime Research Lab, was recognized for her success in research, including her work on the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funded project, by the DHS Center for Criminal Investigations and Network Analysis in their December 2024 newsletter. Curran was also recognized at the Southern Criminal Justice Association 2024 Conference, where she received the Tom Barker Outstanding Undergraduate award for her excellence in research throughout her undergraduate degree.
Additionally, in May 2024, Curran was given the Outstanding Undergraduate Student in Criminal Justice award from the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice at Clemson University for her dedication to research in the Criminal Justice field.
Alexis Lamere, Research Assistant with the Drugs and Crime Research Lab, was recognized for the Outstanding Master’s Degree Student in Psychology for the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 academic years. Her interdisciplinary collaboration across multiple departments within the College of Behavioral, Social and Health Sciences (CBSHS) also earned her an Interdisciplinary Fellowship.
