"Heyyyyyy, I’m Kharimat Lora Alatise but everyone calls me Lora!
I’m a 3rd year PhD student in Bioengineering (yeah I know another one 😂). I wish I had a fancy title for what I study but I don't yet. I’m investigating the delivery of nucleic acids via peptide-based nanomaterials in 3d ovarian cancer models to treat drug resistance.
I wanted to be a part of BGSA because I couldn’t see myself thriving without community. Yes, we may have our communities that existed before we got here but creating one while being here is essential! As President this year my goal is to not only lead, but to serve you all — that is what BGSA is for. I hope you can find community with us. If you see me don’t be shy!”

"Hello all. My name is Marissa Davis. I am a second year Master's student in the History department here at Clemson, studying Southern History, African and African American experiences in the American South, Food History, and the Digital Humanities.
My current research questions the existence of a Southern Identity in comparison to the most everyday aspect of Southern Culture, our food.
I choose to be a part of BGSA as I believe in the need for community among black students here at Clemson.
I serve as the historian for BGSA and hope to capture its essence via documentation and our social media platforms. “
