Benjamin J. Hamlin
PhD Candidate
Clemson University
I am a fifth-year PhD candidate working under Drs. Cheng Guo and Margaret M. Wiecek in the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at Clemson University. I expect to graduate in December 2025.
My research interests are in parametric optimization, stochastic programming, multiobjective optimization, and decomposition techniques. My dissertation has focused on developing decomposition based solution methods for multiobjective linear optimization and parametric linear optimization problems in the settings of stochastic and determinisstic data. Additionally, I am interested in applying optimal control, optimal transport, and other functional analysis areas to parametric optimization, multiobjective optimization, and stochastic programming problems.
I completed my B.S. in Mathematical Sciences with minors in Statistics and Computer Science at Georgia Southern University - Armstrong (formerly Armstrong State University) and my M.S. in Mathematics under Drs. Colton Magnant and Hua Wang at Georgia Southern University - Statesboro where my research focused on aspects of graph colorings. In particular, I investigated the Gallai-Ramsey numbers of broom graphs. In my spare time, I enjoy running, hiking, and camping.
