The official name of our laboratory is the Intelligent Sensing System Laboratory.
Established in 1994, UMEDA Lab. conducts research on intelligent sensing technologies for robots and other intelligent machines. With image processing, measurement engineering, and deep learning as our core technologies, we work on a wide range of research topics, including the construction of an Intelligent Room that allows users to operate home appliances through gesture recognition, factory management systems using deep learning, the development of compact range image sensors, three-dimensional measurement using omnidirectional cameras, SLAM and self-localization, and robot-hand control through image feedback.
