Hoover Parents,

I want to take a moment to offer a few reminders about safety during drop-off and pick-up times.

• Cell Phone Use: Texas law prohibits the use of cell phones in a school zone unless the device is hands-free. The only exception is if your vehicle is completely stopped and in park.

• Following Police Directions: Texas law also requires all drivers to follow the instructions of a police officer. When an officer is directing traffic at the Sandy Beach exit, please wait until the officer signals for you to proceed—do not exit simply because you see an opening.

• Speed Limits: During posted school zone hours, please ensure your speed does not exceed 20 mph.

• Traffic Enforcement: Azle ISD police officers conduct traffic stops and issue citations just like any other Texas law enforcement agency.

New Friday Initiative: ZAP and NEAT Kids

ZAP (Zeros Aren't Permitted) and NEAT Kids (Never Ever Absent or Tardy)

We're making a change to our Friday schedule. Due to ongoing logistical issues with the club opt-in forms, we will no longer be offering clubs. We appreciate your understanding and are excited to introduce two new initiatives that will alternate weekly: ZAP and NEAT Kids Fridays.

These new programs are designed to recognize and reward students while providing them with dedicated time for academic success.

ZAP Fridays: The this week, Friday, September 26th, we will have a ZAP Friday. Students who do not have any missing assignments will go to the Cafeteria or Gym for games during leadership.
NEAT Kids Fridays: This program will begin the following week on Friday, October 3rd. Students with perfect attendance over the previous two weeks will go to the Cafeteria or Gym for games and activities during the leadership period.

REMINDER ABOUT HOOVER'S DRESS CODE

The following dress code will be enforced:

SHIRTS

• The shirt/top must cover the midriff at all times (e.g., standing, sitting, stretching and bending). No halter tops, transparent blouses or shirts.

• No spaghetti strap shirts will be permitted.

• No tank tops, fast back sport shirts, and muscle shirts will be permitted.

• Perforated low cut tops: tops with no backs or low sides that reveal undergarments.

PANTS/LEGGINGS

• Leggings or tights, shirts must cover legs at the fingertip length or longer.

• Pants/Jeans cannot have holes above the fingertip length, if so tights/clothing must be worn underneath, no skin can be shown above finger tip .

SHORTS OR SKIRTS

• Shorts, dresses, jumpers, and skirts must allow students to be able to stand, sit, or bend with modesty.

• When standing, shorts/skirts should must be fingertip length or longer.

• Consider length of shorts carefully including athletic style shorts, as many of these do not adhere to the dress code. Cutouts on the sides may not be above fingertip length.

SHOES

• Shoes must be worn at all times.

• No house shoes or slippers.

• No shoes with wheels.

• Tennis shoes are required for PE and recess.

HAIR/BODY

• Hair shall be neat, clean, and well groomed.

• No decorative shavings in hair, including the eyebrows.

• Hairstyles must not cause a disruption. Extreme styles will not be allowed.

• Piercings may not exceed the ears.

Clothing items must be free of pictures, emblems and/or writings that are lewd or obscene. • Clothing items must not advertise or depict tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, drugs, violence, vulgarity, gang symbolism, sexual symbolism and/or substance prohibited under policy FNCF (LOCAL).

• At all dances and after school functions, student must adhere to the dress code.
