Resources include primary and secondary sources, lesson plans, staff development, apps and interactive websites, museum exhibits and programs, books, and events. The resources found there include TSHA resources as well as many other institutions.
Texas Insights, TSHA's e-newsletter specifically for 4th and 7th grade teachers, pairs with www.TeachingTexas.org and is designed to share opportunities for Texas teachers and students while promoting effective instructional practices. George H.W. Bush Library - The George Bush Presidential Library and Museum, in partnership with the City of Bryan and Bryan ISD, has developed lesson plans for educators using primary source materials from the library’s archives. These purposeful, interactive lessons are tied to Texas and national curriculum standards in social studies, American history, government and science. This connection between classrooms and the Bush Library and Museum’s primary sources encourages critical thinking skills and reinforces vocabulary terms, concepts and relevant curriculum materials.
George W. Bush Library - Welcome from the education program of the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum! It is part of the Library and Museum’s mission to encourage students of all ages to learn more about the Presidency, the First Lady, American history, and government as well as to serve as a resource for the study of the life and career of President George W. Bush. The education program is developing engaging, hands-on classroom resources; programming for professional development; field trip planning information and much more, all for teachers as well as visitors.
Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library - Born in Denison, Texas, Dwight Eisenhower would go on to become supreme commander, Allied Expeditionary Force and shortly after WWII became the 34th President of the United States. The Eisenhower Presidential Library is one of 13 Presidential Libraries administered by the National Archives and Records Administration. They preserve the documents and artifacts of our Presidents, providing insight into the times in which these Presidents lived and served the nation through archives, museums, and special programs.
George H.W. Bush Gallery and the National Museum of the Pacific War (Home of the Admiral Nimitz Museum) - Great resources on the Pacific War, video and virtual tours under the Nimitz Education and Research Center page.
