We know many questions may arise as school draws near. Please know we are available for questions. We have put together a list of FAQ's we receive during enrollment.
We have 8 class periods with lunch being a full class period. We short class period of FLEX time in between 2nd and 3rd period.
FLEX time is a 30 minute time during 2nd and 3rd period where you are able to accomplish tasks that need to be addressed. This may be tutorials, team/club meetings or study time (among other things). You will plan your FLEX schedule at the beginning of each week. Don't worry! There will be many options to choose from and we will walk you through the process. This time may also be used for pep rallies, class meetings, advisories or assemblies.
The tardy bell for first period rings at 8:40. If you have 8 class periods, your day will end at 4:10. If you have off periods your dismissal time may vary. The building will open at 8:00 in the morning if you need to arrive early.
You will get a notification when schedules are released. To view your schedule, you will log-in to your student portal.
We have Chromebooks available through our technology department but you are not able to bring a device from home. Paying the DPP will get you on the list to receive a device from the technology department. Devices are needed in the classroom.
General parking is $50. Our students call the student parking "Narnia" because it is far away BUT you will always be able to find a spot. Seniors are able to pay for a reserved parking spot but there are limited spaces available. Seniors with reserved spots may opt to paint their parking space. All parking paperwork must be completed with the Aledo Police Department. We have a police officer on our campus who will have the paperwork available.
The bus drops off in the bus loop drive behind the high school. This is also where the bus will pick students up in the afternoons. Please find more information on transportation arrangements HERE.
We have students who choose to do either. The high school cafeteria has many options for meals including a burrito/nacho bar, sandwich/wrap/salad bar, traditional hot meal and much more! Please find more information about cafeteria services HERE. You can set up an account through MySchoolBucks to load money digitally. The cafeteria DOESN'T take debit or credit cards when going through the line currently, but will accept cash or check.
We DO NOT have off campus lunch. You MUST stay on campus for lunch.
We have 3rd, 4th and 5th period lunch. You will be assigned a lunch based on what works best in your schedule. We do not have grade specific lunches.
Information on dress code can be found in the Student Handbook found HERE (page 76).
When school begins, your parents will have access to a site called "Ascender Parent Portal" and you will have access to the "Ascender Student Portal." Here you will be able to check grades and absences. The link for parent portal is HERE and the link for student portal is found HERE.
